THREE PLACES IN THE 146TH OPEN ON OFFER AT THE EMIRATES AUSTRALIAN OPEN
16 November 2016, Sydney, NSW, Australia: Three players who finish in the top ten and ties at the Emirates Australian Open who are not already exempt will earn places in The 146th Open at Royal Birkdale, 16-23 July 2017.
The 2016 Emirates Australian Open is the first event in The Open Qualifying Series and will be played from 17-20 November at Royal Sydney Golf Club.
Players in the field at the Emirates Australian Open who are already exempt for The Open at Royal Birkdale:

In the event of a tie for a qualifying place, the player with the higher ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) at the beginning of the week commencing 14 November will be awarded a place in The 146th Open.

The Open
The 146th Open will be played at Royal Birkdale from 16-23 July 2017.
The Open is golf’s oldest championship. Played since 1860 on iconic British and Irish links courses, it is the sport’s most international Major Championship with qualifying events on every continent. For one week each year, the pursuit of the famous Claret Jug trophy is the focus of the sporting world, followed globally by millions of fans.
